I have had the privilege to work with great high tech products throughout my 25+ year career, mostly with complex software systems, often closely related to hardware. My roots are in software engineering, and for the most part I have been working with product management, product marketing, strategy and business development.
My belief is that commercial success comes from identifying the characteristics of the product (its DNA if you will), what makes it truly unique in the eyes of the customer, and match that with target customer characteristics and needs. In that process, translating product benefits to monetary value for customers is an essential part of reaching success. By also identifying relevant market movements and trends, and making sure that the product is ideally positioned in the market, now as well as for future growth, is my recipe for commercial success.
